Back… with a wedding update!

*Dusts cobwebs*

Hello! I’m finally back from yet another blogging hiatus (yes, I know), one that’s far more extended than I intended it to be. Truth is, I got caught up with my wedding preparations and the little things that I had to get done prior to moving across the pond to join G. G and I had our wedding on a Sunday in DC and I moved to London shortly after on Wednesday to start a new chapter in our lives.  (Our wedding was back in early October.) Now that I’m settled in, it’s time to get back to blogging!

Since our wedding was part of the reason for my hiatus, I’ll be sharing some personal pics to (hopefully!) make up for it. 😉 Our wedding was held at a SGI Buddhist Center and it was a small, intimate ceremony on a beautiful Fall day (with Summer weather!). It was followed by a buffet reception of light refreshments shortly after the ceremony at the same venue.

As I’m not a big fan of fresh flowers, I wanted something different as my bouquet for the wedding. I lucked out when work had pinwheels to giveaway in an effort to support the cause for awareness in prevention of child abuse. Let’s just say I may have taken more than one on my way out each day. A dear friend who’s a costume designer kindly helped to put my pinwheels together into a bouquet. (Thanks, M!) I did however, purchase a bouquet of flowers from Trader Joe’s on the day of, for the bouquet toss. (I trimmed and tied a ribbon on the bouquet.)

With our love for travel, it was only apt that our wedding was travel-themed. That aside, we were also in a long distance relationship which required both of us to travel to meet periodically. With that, I had origami boats, paper planes, and hot air balloons made out of maps to be tied in to the theme. (I had an origami party with a few friends to accomplish that!) We also bought two vintage suitcases from eBay as props/decor for the wedding. Also, in lieu of a guestbook, we had Anniversary Mail postcards made instead. Our guests gave us advice (for the bride and groom), of which we will read on our wedding anniversaries. For favors, we had little suitcases filled with some Ferraro Rocher chocolates for our guests to take home at the baggage claim area.

Without further ado, here are the pics and some rare shots of me showing my face with G! (In case you were wondering, G = Geek, so that should answer any questions you may have on any Iron Man insignia on him)

Spring Weekends

Here are snippets of some pics from how I’ve been spending some of my Spring weekends. There are many more that went undocumented though, like today where I enjoyed a decent bowl of pho at Sprig and Sprout followed by some chocolate and mango gelato from Dolcezza that was just lip-smacking delicious!

Desserts at Serendipity 3 with a friend. I have heard so much about this popular restaurant to visit in New York that I finally went to visit and check out the food since they’ve been in Georgetown for a while now. Their signature drink is the frozen hot chocolate and it is HUGE! It tastes decent, reminiscent of chocolate malt drinks but it can be better. Perhaps a little less ice to maintain the rich chocolate would’ve been good. Yes, I love my chocolate rich and not too sweet.

I can’t tell you how the strawberry fields sundae taste since I didn’t have any of that. I couldn’t even finish my frozen hot chocolate! I have since learnt that one should go to Serendipity 3 for desserts after a light meal not a heavy one for you’d have no room to finish their desserts!

Rosa Loves Madewell event that was held at the end of March. Rosa is one of the few DC bloggers that I follow on Twitter and since we’ve tweeted each other a few times, I thought it would be nice to finally meet her in person. (I’m working on my networking skills as a blogger, since as an introvert I often feel cozy in my own company!) Rosa made pretty cards of Lola her dog and decorated the drinks and the store with it! It was also my first visit to Madewell on Wisconsin Avenue even though I frequently pass by. Thank you Rosa for giving me an excuse to check out the store! 😉

I have to confess that something utterly embarrassing happened while at the event. For whatever reason, I happened to have butter fingers and I dropped the can of soda that I was sipping on and made quite the scene. Thankfully I didn’t spill any on myself or the clothes in the store but I still made a mess and Carmen was super nice to help me. Thank you!

And last but not least, here are some pretty blooming cherry blossoms and tulips!

How have you been spending your Spring weekends? I hope they’ve been great to refresh and made you ready to start the week! 🙂

Travel – Fall Vacation: New York

My family (minus my brother) came to visit me in early October (in DC) before we adjourned our family vacation to New York and Paris. My brother was able to meet us in New York as he managed to request for his flight schedule to New York to be at the same time as we were visiting. (Yes, my brother is a commercial airline pilot.) We were there for 3 days before we departed to Paris (minus my brother as he flew back).

It rained almost the whole time while we were there and since we have all done all the touristy attractions, we stuck to a relaxing schedule of eating and shopping. It was however, the first time for us with the exception of my brother to visit Chelsea Market a chill place with restaurants and a few retail stores thrown into the mix. (WARNING: Picture heavy post!)

We also went to Times Square as my mum wanted to snap some pictures. I’m only sharing two of which one is from last year’s Thanksgiving!

…and of course, some delicious Korean food that we had in New Wonjo in Koreatown aka K-town. (I didn’t remember to snap pics of other meals that we had!)

Food was delicious and service was good. I had never had Korean BBQ before and it was great to have that with my family as there were enough of us to order a variety of dishes to share! And, last but not least, here’s what I had with my bro last year around Thanksgiving…

Okay, I’m officially hungry just from editing and posting this! I will have Paris pics up soon, I promise!

Hope you had a good weekend! 🙂
