Fauxionable Outfit – Colors in Barcelona

A quarter of the year has flown by since my last post (eek!) and I was traveling quite a bit. Since my last post, I have:

  • Had another wedding, our Catholic church wedding in New York
  • Tested our wedding vows in dealing with a health situation
  • Traveled back to Motherland (Malaysia) and Singapore
  • Had a haircut
  • Traveled to Barcelona and Menorca for our birthday vacation
  • Changed blog hosting providers; and
  • Learned how to sew on a sewing machine!

I have been slacking off blogging but I am definitely not short on content to blog, that’s for sure! So without further ado, here’s the outfit I wore on our first day in Barcelona. I last wore this dress here and it’s my most pinned item on Pinterest. It’s too pretty a dress to be sitting in the closet so I brought it along for our birthday vacation!

Fauxionable Outfit – Almost Spring!

The weather has slowly been getting warmer and flowers are blooming, which means it’s almost Spring! I couldn’t resist wearing this tulip print dress that always reminds me of Spring, layered underneath a cashmere turtleneck. I wore this outfit a few weekends ago but the past few days I’ve only been wearing my trench coat and sans scarf. Spring weather is upon us!

Fauxionable Outfit – Summer Wedding Guest Outfit

I attended a friend’s wedding this past weekend and it was a simple yet beautiful wedding. I was busy  taking mental notes as my wedding will be at the same venue! The bride and groom offered to save their decor for me (sweet!) and a friend who helped out at the wedding kindly forwarded me the agenda/plan. Upon seeing all the details, I had a mini panic attack realizing that I have yet to decide on many of the things on the agenda! That my fellow readers, explains my absence as I’m currently working on finding a caterer along with deciding on the other food-related details.

In any case, here’s what I wore to the wedding. I decided to keep accessories to a minimum as the maxi dress had a beautiful print and beading around the neckline.

Fauxionable Outfit – What I Wore to Work: Tulips

It’s been a while since I posted an outfit, so here’s one I wore to work earlier this week and linking up with Mix & Match Fashion’s What I Wore to Work.

I spotted Peony Lim in a pretty Anna Sui dress that she wore for fashion week two years ago while perusing her archive when I discovered her blog. I couldn’t forget the gorgeous print on the dress and recently I decided to try and hunt down the dress. Well, as luck would have it, I found a similar dress that Anna Sui created for Anthropologie and someone was clearing their closet on eBay. Even though it was a size or two bigger, I nabbed the dress as I can always have it altered when I go back to KL.

So, here’s the outfit layered under a sleeveless shirt and blouse in an attempt to conceal that the dress is a tad big on me. 😉

Review: Peter Som for Anthropologie Elizabeth Zebra Dress and Audrey Zebra Blouse

As mentioned here, I purchased a few Peter Som for Anthropologie items using my birthday discount last month. I bought the Elizabeth Zebra Dress and the Audrey Zebra Blouse as I love the zebra print. For reference, both items are in size 0.

While I love the design of this dress, sadly it didn’t fit me well. The waist line was at least a good inch above my natural waist and the fit was tight for my broad shoulders. Whenever I lift my arms, the dress would rise, which a well-fitting dress wouldn’t. If you have broad shoulders you might want to size up or pass on this. The dress is lined and the fabric is a lighter silk but somehow I didn’t quite like the texture of the silk which was almost silk chiffon-like. My floral Banana Republic Factory Outlet dress in my opinion had better quality silk than this dress that is more than twice as expensive!

While the Audrey Zebra Blouse fit much better than the Elizabeth Zebra Dress, I did not like the details on this blouse when worn – a pleat around the neckline and ruffles at the bottom. The tiered ruffles weren’t cut very well, as you can tell on back pic of me wearing the top. Somehow it didn’t lie flat. I felt the workmanship was sub-par for a garment priced at $128.

Overall while I like the pattern and the design of these two garments, I ended up returning them. They did not flatter me and I find it to be overpriced. If you’re interested in the collection, you can find it here and the only store that carries it is located in Chelsea Market, NY.

Did you purchase any item from this collection or perhaps you’re planning to? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
