6 Ways to Wear Your Striped Dress
Of late, I have been a tad obsessive with paring down my clothes. (I have started taking inventory of my clothes!) You know something is wrong when I only bought THREE items from ZARA’s Summer sale since I usually pick up quite a few things during their sales. (In case you’re wondering, I bought an open back knit top and two pairs of opaque tights from the sales.) I have been moving towards minimalism and am tempted by the idea of a capsule collection/wardrobe. While I am far from achieving a minimalist wardrobe, I have been quite inspired by Unfancy, a blog on a minimalist wardrobe.
Caroline, the photographer/blogger behind Unfancy shares her daily unfancy outfits consisting of items from her capsule wardrobe. She shares what is a capsule wardrobe, how to build one, and various other tips on her blog. I find her outfits to be simple and refreshing, perhaps a backlash to the majority of personal style bloggers that favor consumption and overlayering/stacking. If you, like me, are seeking inspiration from minimalism, do head over to her blog.
Have a good weekend!
Shine by Three is one of the blogs on the FELLT network, an exclusive network for Aussie fashion bloggers. In case you didn’t already know, FELLT network has helped blogs to move on to bigger, better things, e.g., Tuula Vintage and Gary Pepper Girl. Margaret Zhang, the blogger behind Shine by Three wears many hats like most bloggers do. She’s a full-time Law student aside from being a blogger, fashion director and Harper’s Bazaar contributor for Australia. She’s young (only 20!) and talented. I discovered her blog earlier this year when I came across one of her street style pictures during Fashion Week. I have since been hooked to her blog as Margaret is not only a talented writer, but she also takes great pictures. Proof? Most of her outfit shots are taken using a timer on her camera with the help of a tripod! (The picture above being one example.) Yes, I’m envious and her dance background doesn’t hurt in enabling her to pose fluidly with movement. Her training in Law also enables her to write succinctly and her writing is peppered with humor, showcasing her personality. Well, head on over to her blog and be mesmerized! 😉 Happy Friday!
I read a variety of blogs and I try to be abreast of what goes on back in Malaysia through a few blogs that I read/frequent/follow. My favorite is without a doubt, the lifestyle blog Proudduck by Vivy Sofinas Yusuf. Thanks J for sharing it with me! I’ve been reading it for a few years now and I guess it’s time to share the love as her witty anecdotes and stories makes for good stress reliefs when work gets crazy. For example, here, here, and here.
Vivy together with her husband Fadza whom she refers to as Dean are the founders of Fashion Valet, Malaysia’s online store that stocks garments and accessories from local designers and also some within the region, e.g., Indonesia. They’ve come quite a ways with their business although I’ve yet to purchase anything yet but who knows how long I’ll be able to hold off?
In any case, I hope you enjoy the blog as Vivy is almost due to give birth anytime yet she’s attending KLFW (Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week) and regaling us her readers with hilarious stories still. Enjoy and happy Friday! 🙂
Jen Tam, is the personal style blogger behind her waise choice from Vancouver. I discovered her blog back in 2010 from a Club Monaco giveaway tweet from the company itself. It came as a surprise when I discovered that I won one of the prizes (20% off discount) since I always enter giveaways for fun with no real hope of winning anything. 😉
I enjoy reading Jen’s blog as I can relate to her classic style. With her signature red-lip, pretty sun flared pictures, and writing that’s easy to read, you’d be suck into her blog in no time! (well, at least I was!) If you’re looking to build a classic wardrobe with signature pieces, I’d recommend checking out her waise choice. Enjoy and happy Friday! 🙂
Marlene & Lil L, her daughter
Marlene, the lifestyle blogger behind Chocolate Cookies & Candies is a mum and entrepreneur who was born in Malaysia, grew up in New Zealand, and currently resides in UK. I can’t remember how I came across her blog, but I’m glad I did for I enjoy reading her blog. I remember poring through her blog upon discovery and chuckling at some of her posts. I could definitely relate to this post as she wrote:
“I believe it should take no more than 30 minutes to create tasty dishes with simple and fresh ingredients. Better still, I love recipes that call for chucking all the ingredients into a pot and simmer for an hour or so while I get on with work.
Any recipe that lists ingredients as long as my arm is instantly ignored. Who wants to race around to every grocery store to find some obscure herb or vegetable? Not to mention the chopping, mincing, saute-ing followed by a long simmer and then baked for an hour, remove foil and bake again. Whew! I feel like I’ve just ran a marathon in the kitchen just reading what I wrote.”
It felt like I found a best friend! 😉 Her posts are witty and well-written accompanied by beautiful shots on topics such as fashion, food, and travel. I highly recommend checking out her blog for she has a wealth of knowledge in bags and loves shoes like most females do. (not me but I lust over her Hermes Kelly!) She also shares her first London Fashion Week experience here. Well, enjoy and happy Friday! 🙂
