Wishing Wednesday… Helmut Lang Era Blazer

Helmut Lang Era Blazer Black

Helmut Lang Era Blazer $529 on sale (currently additional 50% off!

As someone with wide shoulders and a smaller waist, I often have to size up for jackets and outerwear. I decided that I would try designer labels instead since most high street labels such as H&M and ZARA don’t fit too well. Well, I came across this Helmut Lang Era blazer and I fell for it! I love the minimalist aesthetic without lapels and the asymmetric hems on the front. The 3/4 sleeves also add character to the blazer. (What black boring blazer, you say?) To me, this is a classic black blazer that can be dressed up or down. It may not be the suit blazer that one might wear for a job interview (although that depends on the industry that one is in, but I tend to err on the conservative side of dressing) yet I think it’s a classic piece that’s a worthy investment.

I was psyched to find it on sale at Intermix but the only size left was a 2 and it was final sale. Not familiar with Helmut Lang sizing, I quickly went to the store the next day in my neighborhood to try on the Era blazer in Burgundy which they had in store. Alas, I fit into a 4, not a 2 (once again wide shoulder problems!) but the blazer actually fit pretty well for the 4. When buttoned, it was looser than I’d like but I figured a quick fix for it – moving the button and sewing it further from the original placement. The Era blazer however is sold out company-wide in Black for all sizes other than a 2. 🙁 My only hope now is to wait patiently for it to go on sale on the Helmut Lang site itself. Cross your fingers for me, will ya?

p/s: I did however purchased something else… something black, and also a jacket! It arrives tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll be able to take pics of it this weekend! 🙂

Fauxionable Outfit – Winter Rainy Day

Here’s an outfit for a Winter rainy day. Yes, I’m without an umbrella because it isn’t pouring rain but drizzling and misty!

Burberry Rubber Riding Boots

I bought these Burberry Rubber Riding Boots back in F/W 2010 and they have been serving me well. I admit to neglecting them a tad since I bought the Cole Haan Dorian Boots which can double as a pair of snow boots and is slightly more comfy with the Nike Air technology. But these boots are too pretty not to be worn and since I vowed to decrease cost per wear for my garments this year, here they are for an outfit pic! 🙂

Are there items that you neglect over newer purchase? Do share!

Fauxionable Outfit – Burgundy/Oxblood Sweater & H&M Coupon

I wore this outfit some weekends ago to run errands and just realized that I didn’t get around to posting it. I absolutely love this H&M sweater and it’s the only piece of clothing I’ve bought during my clothing ban to replace an older sweater. I had a coupon and scored it for only $9! It is made of 90% acrylic (yes, I know it’s material to be avoided but I plan on dry cleaning it) and 10% mohair and definitely keeps me warm and cozy!

I would also like to share this H&M coupon for 20% off that I just received in my inbox. Perhaps you’d like to snag one of these sweaters or use it for a gift. Either way, happy shopping! 🙂

Fauxionable Outfit – Burgundy Wednesday

As mentioned here, burgundy will be one of the main colors for Fall/Winter this year and I couldn’t help but pick up this H&M dress in a classic cut (despite on a clothing ban!). I have been eying this dress since it was featured on H&M’s site and been checking out the stores frequently for it. I finally picked it up when I read ExtraPetite.com’s review on it. Love the invert pleats on the neckline, the cap sleeves, and the key hole on the back (not shown).

Fauxionable Outfit – Maroon Monday

Rushed to get these outfit pics taken as the sun was setting and I was being eaten alive by mosquitoes! Here’s my maroon Monday…

I’m glad that maroon/burgundy is going to be one of the main colors for this Fall/Winter. That along with oxblood red for Fall/Winter would make for an interesting season for me. Translation: I will have to try even harder to contain the shopaholic in me since I do like both colors!

Are you a fan of maroon/burgundy or oxblood red?
