Fauxionable Outfit – Channeling Coco Chanel Take Two

In an effort to wear layers and create a new outfit, I layered a sleeveless button down on top of my shirt dress which resulted in an outfit that Mademoiselle Chanel would approve of! I previously wore the same top to create another outfit channeling Coco Chanel here. I think a Chanel brooch adds a touch of class to just about any outfit. I also took Chanel’s advice – “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory,” as I had thought of wearing my long pearl necklace as a bracelet but decided otherwise. Looking back at this outfit though, perhaps I should have worn red shoes but I wanted to to keep the outfit as neutral as possible and let the bag be the pop of color. What do you think? Wishing Wednesday… 3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Minute Cosmetic Bag

3.1 Phillip Lim Cosmetic Bag Clutch Gold3.1 Phllip Lim 31 Minute Cosmetic Bag in Gold $350

Frankly, I’ve been skipping a few Wednesdays’ posts as I haven’t had much hankering for anything of late other than my dream bag, the still-so-out-of-reach Hermes Kelly, the Ferrari of bags. However, I will be more than happy to add this little number to my capsule collection of bags. I first spotted this in Fashion Squad’s blog post and got to see it in person at Barney’s Co-op while shopping with a friend on one of the beautiful Spring weekends that we’ve been having here. I love the size of it, although as a cosmetic bag, I think it’s a little overboard but then again, what do I know since I barely put on much makeup! For me, it would be a great alternative to my Marc Jacobs Palais Royale flat case for a pop of bling. I’m rarely attracted to bright shiny things, yet somehow this 3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Minute cosmetic bag has me hooked like a magpie attracted to all things shiny! I do wish it came with a shoulder strap but I’ll happily take it as is. Now, anyone wants to send this to me as birthday gift? 😉

Fauxionable Outfit – Stripe Accents

Looks like we have gone from a cool Spring straight to Summer here in DC! This means my dresses and skirts will be on full rotation mode! Wearing this purple dress today in my rotation of dresses (last seen here). I’m pairing the dress with a stripe sash instead for a fresh outfit and it matches the stripe lining of the ZARA blazer, hence the title of today’s post. 😉

Recent Acquisitions

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I found the Valentino Noir Rockstud while I was in HK and it was slightly cheaper than the retail price here in the US (difference about $50). They had both the flats and the kitten heel version although the latter was more than retail here. I tried on the kitten heel version and it was comfy like flip-flops! As it was a big ticket item, I handed them back to the lovely sales assistant in Lane Crawford and went on my merry way. G was very sweet and offered to buy them as a gift knowing how badly I wanted them. I pondered on them for a few days before finally deciding to purchase them the day prior to us leaving. Alas, there was none in my size when I returned to the store to purchase what I wanted. 🙁 My sis and G was kind enough to entertain me as we made a mad dash to Joyce and Valentino stores in hunt of the Noir Rockstuds. Nope, nothing to be found, they were all sold out. Only Lane Crawford had them but none in the size of what I wanted.

Well, as I’ve been obsessed with these shoes for a while (what an understatement!), I knew the few sites that still had what I want. Better yet, I was able to find a discount code which made the price difference slightly less then the retail price in HK! Woohoo! Thank you, G! 😀

On a recent trip to H&M to return a pair of printed pants (I’ve yet to find a pair that fits for a price I’m willing to pay), I found few more rings to add to my collection.

The gold rings reminded me of the infamous Balenciaga rings that were featured on the S/S 2013 runway.

I had previously seen the ASOS version of these rings (silver here) and resisted to buy them but these H&M ones were hard to resist at their price point! As for the lil Octopus, it reminded me of the late Paul the Octopus. It was also budget-friendly for Miss Frugal here, so I bought it without further thought. 😉

Can you guess which pair of Noir Rockstud I got? (I had previously posted about them here.) I’ll definitely be posting outfit pics featuring it in the near future! 😉

Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Wishing Wednesday…Sophie Hulme Soft Flap Bag

Sophie Hulme Soft Flap Bag in BlackSophie Hulme Soft Flap Bag

I had some time to kill earlier while waiting to meet a friend so I stopped by at the Barney’s Co-op in Georgetown since it has been a while since I went in there. As usual, first thing of order was to check the bags in the store!

I finally got to see some of Sophie Hulme‘s bags in person after seeing them on blogs and on celeb sighting pics. Of all the bags, I was drawn to the Sophie Hulme Soft Flap Bag. I tried it on and I love that the bag was relatively light, as I have heard that the Tote Buckle Bag weighs quite a bit. The interior is lined with suede, much like my Bottega Veneta’s Medium Veneta and I love the clean and minimalistic design. My only gripe would be the thin straps that seems to be really popular with designers albeit completely impractical! The strap would definitely dig into one’s shoulder when the bag is being carried cross-body. (I am Miss Practical and strive to find stylish items without sacrificing comfort!)

Sadly, I wasn’t able to find much in terms of reviews for this bag but I think this would be a great addition to my bag collection! (Yes, it’s Wishing Wednesday after all!) Do you like the Soft Flap Bag?
