Fauxionable Outfit – Winter Basics Take Two

Aside from relying on turtlenecks for Winter (see here), a thick chunky knit is a staple for my Winter basics. While I love the idea of layering, sometimes it requires more effort than my brain is capable of when I’m pressed for time!

We finally went to visit Harry Potter World and I decided to keep things simple with my trusty winter basics. A more detailed post to come in the near future on our tour to the Warner Bros. Studio.

Fauxionable Outfit – Blue & Red

Aside from black and white, blue and red is another combination that I favor (see here, here, and here). This outfit is yet another travel uniform with the essential jeans and turtleneck. I usually pair this dress with tights but decided to pair it with jeans instead, styling it more as a tunic than a dress.

Fauxionable Outfit – Travel Uniform

My sincere apologies on the hiatus. I was coping with jet lag (still am actually), recovering from a cold and was having a case of blogging doldrums. Fret not, I’m back. I just needed to clear my head a little!

Here’s an outfit (a travel uniform to me) that I wore while on vacation in Hong Kong. During the Fall/Winter season, turtlenecks become an essential for traveling as it is crucial to keep this giraffe neck warm! A scarf would have been an essential as well (I packed two along, just in case) but there wasn’t a need for one on this trip. Jeans are also a must when I travel in the colder temperatures as it’s the basic or rather essential of my travel uniform.

Since acquiring this ZARA leather jacket, I’ve been trying to wear it whenever I can. I happily ditched my heavier wool coats in favor of this leather jacket for this trip knowing the temperatures would be more temperate. We had pleasant weather in Hong Kong as the temperatures were in the high 60s F (19-21 C) while we were there.

Fauxionable Outfit – ZARA Biker Leather Jacket

This highly coveted ZARA Biker Leather Jacket is no stranger in the blogosphere as many bloggers own this item. Unlike most, I’m one who only shops during the sales, so my patience paid off when I was able to purchase this in my size on the first day of the sale. It was really sunny over the weekend, and I was able to wear the leather jacket without extra layers over it.

Each Fall/Winter, I toy with the idea of purchasing a leather jacket, but I either pass at the price tag or the item being ill-fitting. I’m pleased to finally be able to add this leather jacket to my wardrobe as it actually fits quite well and I consider it to be a classic! What are your thoughts on leather jackets? Yay or nay?

Fauxionable Outfit – What to Wear Where: Christmas Eve/Christmas Tradition

Growing up, Christmas was a family gathering where we would gather at my aunt’s house for a potluck party. Since moving here to the US, Christmas for the most part is a day to unwind and have some “me time.” (preferably with some egg nog, of course!) This week’s What to Wear Where got me thinking about Christmas tradition. Since I don’t really have one, I decided to start one – wearing a gifted item to celebrate Christmas. Christmas for me as a non-Christian has always been appreciating the wonderful people that I have in my life. To show my love and appreciation, I think it’s only apt that I don gifts that I have received as part of my Christmas tradition.

Come this Christmas day, I’ll be home in this cozy outfit that consists of gifts that I’ve received throughout my life.

Gifts in this outfit – cardigan from my sister, necklace from my godmother (18th birthday gift), watch (Xmas 2011) and Cartier ring (Xmas 2012) from G.

What Christmas traditions do you have, if any? If not, did you make one? 😉
