Fauxionable Outfit – Polka Dots & Print Take Two

When I saw Marionberry’s trend of the month link up was yellow, I had an outfit in mind that I would wear and post. Somehow, the yellow top that I had in mind can’t be found anywhere. Gremlins, anyone? My only other yellow top was the DvF for Gap Kids printed top, so I tried to make that work appropriate by layering that under my new tweed jacket. I felt something was amiss still and decided to layer yet another blouse underneath the yellow top. In my experiments with mixing prints and patterns, I’ve come to realize that polka dots works as a great neutral, so here’s my second outfit featuring polka dots and print! (the first was here.) You can check out the other yellow outfits from the link up here.

Fauxionable Outfit – Blue & Red

Aside from black and white, blue and red is another combination that I favor (see here, here, and here). This outfit is yet another travel uniform with the essential jeans and turtleneck. I usually pair this dress with tights but decided to pair it with jeans instead, styling it more as a tunic than a dress.

Fauxionable Outfit – Travel Uniform

My sincere apologies on the hiatus. I was coping with jet lag (still am actually), recovering from a cold and was having a case of blogging doldrums. Fret not, I’m back. I just needed to clear my head a little!

Here’s an outfit (a travel uniform to me) that I wore while on vacation in Hong Kong. During the Fall/Winter season, turtlenecks become an essential for traveling as it is crucial to keep this giraffe neck warm! A scarf would have been an essential as well (I packed two along, just in case) but there wasn’t a need for one on this trip. Jeans are also a must when I travel in the colder temperatures as it’s the basic or rather essential of my travel uniform.

Since acquiring this ZARA leather jacket, I’ve been trying to wear it whenever I can. I happily ditched my heavier wool coats in favor of this leather jacket for this trip knowing the temperatures would be more temperate. We had pleasant weather in Hong Kong as the temperatures were in the high 60s F (19-21 C) while we were there.

Fauxionable Outfit – Houndstooth & Pinstripes

This houndstooth scarf is what I relied on to keep me warm during last week’s Tundra-like weather here in DC. I usually only wear this when it’s really cold as it keeps my neck toasty! To spruce up and add layers to my outfit, I decided to wear my pinstripes vest as well.

For me, the weather in DC has been liken to a pendulum that swings back and forth this Winter. The week before last it was in the 50s and last week was Tundra-like weather with the bitter cold in the 20s or lower! Well, apparently this week on Wednesday it’s going to be in the 60s and then it dips down to the 40s the next day! How bizarre. One week I’m in light sweaters and jackets while the next I’m in my cashmere or thick sweaters and coat to keep warm before the cycle starts again! I’ve seen some people in Spring-like clothing even in the bitter cold and I can’t help but wonder if they feel cold. Do you dress according to the weather? (I most certainly do!)

Fauxionable Outfit – Burgundy/Oxblood Sweater & H&M Coupon

I wore this outfit some weekends ago to run errands and just realized that I didn’t get around to posting it. I absolutely love this H&M sweater and it’s the only piece of clothing I’ve bought during my clothing ban to replace an older sweater. I had a coupon and scored it for only $9! It is made of 90% acrylic (yes, I know it’s material to be avoided but I plan on dry cleaning it) and 10% mohair and definitely keeps me warm and cozy!
