Making of the Prada Double Bag

Prada Double Bag in BluettePrada Double Bag $2650/£1630

Newly launched on February 12, the Prada Double Bag caught my eye while I was browsing bags in Selfridges with a friend last week. The Double Bag is aptly named, as it is a bag within a bag. The internal divider with a flap pocket can be removed and used as a clutch. (Similar to Mulberry’s Willow Bag although designed differently.) (UPDATE: The internal divider sadly isn’t removable.) The Double Bag that I saw was a basic black which I thought, would make a good workhorse tote. The red interior lining adds a subtle dash of color for those who prefer neutrals without being overpowering. As a practical person, the weight of a bag is a high priority for me, and this Prada Double Bag is almost feather light despite the interior leather lining. The saffiano leather is also durable and wears well over time. Should you be interested, it comes in two sizes. There is however, a drawback as the handle strap won’t go over my shoulder when wearing a coat.

Like the bag-obsessed person that I am, I couldn’t help but look up more details upon reaching home. Here’s some pretty pictures that I came across on the making of the Double Bag. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. (Bag nerd, much?)

The Double Bag comes in a rainbow of colors and you can view all the iterations here. Can I just add that I’d totally be counting pennies to purchase this bag if I was in the market for a basic durable black work tote? Alas…

Blog Anniversary Contest Extension!

Hullo all, G here!

Our lovely hostess fauxionista has an extremely busy week at work, and I’m on holiday, so I’m taking over for this post!  (What kind of husband would I be otherwise?  😉 )

Fauxionista has been blogging for more than a year, and as part of her recent blog anniversary, she created a giveaway, found here:

http://fauxionista.com/2013/07/17/happy-blog-anniversary-giveaway/

The contest is being extended until Friday, 16 August.  She’d really like to get a sense of how followers are reading the blog, so please leave a comment on this post or the original one and tell her which of the two prizes (Friendship Bracelet or Passport Cover) you’d prefer, and how you follow the blog.  Two random winners will be chosed on the 16th.

(We’ll be choosing the winners from a hat based on username.  In fairness to the original entrants, we’ll be giving them 3 entries for every 2 entered after the contest extension.)

Happy Blog Anniversary & Giveaway!

Sometime around this month last year (last weekend to be more precise), I decided to start blogging again. I had been reading one too many blogs and finally decided that I should give blogging another try as an outlet to share my love for styling personal outfits, fashion, and travel. Throughout the year, I have had ups and downs and of late, I have slowed down from posting as frequently as I first started. Why? Because I should not blog simply just because but because I truly enjoy doing it. At times I have wanted to give up, but I had to resolve to not give up on the readers/followers that I have! Besides, I have also met some wonderful people through this blog. So, without further ado, here’s my token of appreciation for sticking with me and may there be many more blog anniversaries to come!

To express my gratitude, I’m giving two gifts – a friendship bracelet from Links of London and a passport cover from Mulberry. Since I enjoy fashion and travel, I thought it would only be befitting for the gifts to reflect that.

Since this is a thank you to my readers/followers the only rule is you have to be a follower to enter. So, leave a comment on which gift you would prefer (if any) and state how you follow my blog – Twitter, Bloglovin, Google+, Facebook, RSS, or Email – and that’s it! Two winners will be announce Monday Aug 4.

Disclosure: These gifts are NOT sponsored but are items I’ve had. I have held on to them for a while but have finally decided that I should part with it by giving it to others instead. Well, who better than my loyal followers? 🙂

Wishing Wednesday… ZARA Wrap Mini Skort

ZARA Mini Wrap Skort

 ZARA Wrap MIni Skort $49.90

First, let me say that I’m wishing for Spring weather as it’s a mix of rain and snow outside but since it’s humid, there’s no snow on the ground. Okay, now back to regular programming. I recently spotted this ZARA Wrap Mini Skort online and love the unique, clean simple aesthetic. I love the asymmetric hems on the front, the folded trim on the top, and the fact that it has pockets!

However, as much as I love the skort, I won’t be purchasing it for a two reasons: 1) it’s white, and 2) it’s not work-appropriate. As much as I love white (I have just about any garment in white), I shy away from white bottoms for the most part because it’s not practical. I’ll be sitting and being the klutz I am, constantly bumping into things and the white bottom will get dirty in no time! As such, I’d ideally like it either in navy, gray, black or better yet, color-blocked in black and white which is a huge Spring trend for the year. I think it’d be perfect if the front panel and the entire back was black with white on the folded trim and the other bottom panel of the skort as you’ll see below.

The second reason for not purchasing the skort is a valid reason for me as I spend most of my time at work and I like my clothing to be work-appropriate as much as possible to get the bang outta my buck, so to speak. Besides, I’m being honest with myself that I don’t wear such short shorts as much and prefer skirts over shorts in the warmer temperature. Ideally, right above the knee would be fantastic.

While I will not be buying the wrap mini skort as much as I love the item, I can’t help but dream out outfits of it in my ideal version. The outfit above would be one that I’d wear with my ideal skort incorporating florals, another Spring trend for the year. (click on the images for the respective items.)

What do you think of my ideal version of the skort? And what are you wishing for this Wednesday? 🙂

Fauxionable Outfit – Double Scarves, Double Floral

I first saw two scarves being worn together on Laura Wears (here, here, and here) and decided to personalize it. Since I’ve been trying to decrease the cost of wear on my items, I decided to pair my silk/lighter scarves with my heavier, warmer scarves together. The latter scarves that I have tend to be in solid colors, thus clashing of prints is less likely to happen. It’s a win-win situation as I still get to wear my prettier scarves during colder weather and still be warm. For this outfit, I paired my silk batik scarf with a pashmina scarf. I picked the batik motif to match the floral print on my dress, thus double scarves, double floral!
