Fauxionable Outfit – Red, White and Blue

Happy 4th to my fellow readers here in the US! In the spirit of American Independence Day, I decided to don red, white and blue for my outfit to run errands earlier this morning. I’ll also be wearing the same outfit this evening for a gathering at a friend’s place for some food and fireworks.

Fauxionable Outfit – Channeling Coco Chanel Take Two

In an effort to wear layers and create a new outfit, I layered a sleeveless button down on top of my shirt dress which resulted in an outfit that Mademoiselle Chanel would approve of! I previously wore the same top to create another outfit channeling Coco Chanel here. I think a Chanel brooch adds a touch of class to just about any outfit. I also took Chanel’s advice – “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory,” as I had thought of wearing my long pearl necklace as a bracelet but decided otherwise. Looking back at this outfit though, perhaps I should have worn red shoes but I wanted to to keep the outfit as neutral as possible and let the bag be the pop of color. What do you think? Fauxionable Outfit – Midi Skirt

I wore this outfit sometime back when it was not as cold (completely subjective!) and recently recycled this outfit with warmer wool tights. I tend to stick to dress pants for work during the colder temperatures, only wearing skirts and dresses for certain occasions, weather-permitting. I decided to give the midi skirt a try this winter in an effort to maximize my wardrobe and minimize cost per wear (although this pretty skirt was a gift).

Yes, it’s another blue & red combo outfit. I just tend to stick to the tried and true, and this includes color palettes. Having a blog is challenging me to be more creative in pairing different textures and prints, but I’m just not quite there yet, color palette-wise!

It has also been really windy here in DC and my animated gif is proof! πŸ˜‰ The wind is supposedly going to make its presence felt throughout this week and it’s forecasted to snow (up to 5-6 inches) tomorrow. Yes, snow in March. Can you tell how excited I am? (if only!) Spring, please hurry up and be here already!

Are there color palettes that you tend to adhere to?

Fauxionable Outfit – Blue & Red

Aside from black and white, blue and red is another combination that I favor (see here, here, and here). This outfit is yet another travel uniform with the essential jeans and turtleneck. I usually pair this dress with tights but decided to pair it with jeans instead, styling it more as a tunic than a dress.

Wishing Wednesday… Anthropologie Pintucked Ponte Dress

Anthropologie Pintucked Ponte Dress RedAnthropologie Pintucked Ponte Dress in Red $148

Lunar New Year is right around the corner (February 10 this year) and this Anthropologie Pintucked Pointe Dress would make a great dress for the first day of Lunar New Year! Red is considered an auspicious color in the Chinese custom and according to mythology, it wards of evil spirits. πŸ˜‰ Well, regardless, I love red as an accent color and thisΒ  dress would fit perfectly in my wardrobe. Besides, I think it’s a versatile dress for work, dates, or shopping. (It would make a great dress for Valentine’s Day for those of you who celebrate that holiday.)

I’ve tried the dress in the store and I like the quality of the fabric. It’s slightly thicker and I believe it will retain its shape over time. There’s also a blue version which I adore but it’s an online exclusive. Love the bright cobalt blue!

Which would you pick? Red or blue? (The red pill or the blue pill? πŸ˜‰ )
