Back… with a wedding update!

*Dusts cobwebs*

Hello! I’m finally back from yet another blogging hiatus (yes, I know), one that’s far more extended than I intended it to be. Truth is, I got caught up with my wedding preparations and the little things that I had to get done prior to moving across the pond to join G. G and I had our wedding on a Sunday in DC and I moved to London shortly after on Wednesday to start a new chapter in our lives.Β  (Our wedding was back in early October.) Now that I’m settled in, it’s time to get back to blogging!

Since our wedding was part of the reason for my hiatus, I’ll be sharing some personal pics to (hopefully!) make up for it. πŸ˜‰ Our wedding was held at a SGI Buddhist Center and it was a small, intimate ceremony on a beautiful Fall day (with Summer weather!). It was followed by a buffet reception of light refreshments shortly after the ceremony at the same venue.

As I’m not a big fan of fresh flowers, I wanted something different as my bouquet for the wedding. I lucked out when work had pinwheels to giveaway in an effort to support the cause for awareness in prevention of child abuse. Let’s just say I may have taken more than one on my way out each day. A dear friend who’s a costume designer kindly helped to put my pinwheels together into a bouquet. (Thanks, M!) I did however, purchase a bouquet of flowers from Trader Joe’s on the day of, for the bouquet toss. (I trimmed and tied a ribbon on the bouquet.)

With our love for travel, it was only apt that our wedding was travel-themed. That aside, we were also in a long distance relationship which required both of us to travel to meet periodically. With that, I had origami boats, paper planes, and hot air balloons made out of maps to be tied in to the theme. (I had an origami party with a few friends to accomplish that!) We also bought two vintage suitcases from eBay as props/decor for the wedding. Also, in lieu of a guestbook, we had Anniversary Mail postcards made instead. Our guests gave us advice (for the bride and groom), of which we will read on our wedding anniversaries. For favors, we had little suitcases filled with some Ferraro Rocher chocolates for our guests to take home at the baggage claim area.

Without further ado, here are the pics and some rare shots of me showing my face with G! (In case you were wondering, G = Geek, so that should answer any questions you may have on any Iron Man insignia on him)

Fauxionable Outfit – What I Wore to Work: Tweed & Stripes

I love this Gap dress from last Summer and I awaited patiently for the item to go on sale. Alas, when it was marked down to a price I’d pay for, it was sold out online and I couldn’t find it in stores. Well, you know this story has a good ending since I am wearing the dress. Few weeks later, I found the dress in my size nestled in the sale section at the Gap store near work. It was the only size left and since the zipper was broken, I was able to get an additional 20% off on top of the extra 30% off sale items! Score! (It came up to about $21 with tax)

I tried to get the zipper replaced here but almost every place I went was going to charge me betwen $15 to $30 for it. Since I knew I was going back to KL, I waited to bring the dress home with me to have it fixed. So, almost a year later, here’s the dress finally making it’s debut and I’m linking this post with Mix & Match Fashion‘s What I Wore to Work.

Have you been able to find something sold out later at a better price?

Recent Acquisitions

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I found the Valentino Noir Rockstud while I was in HK and it was slightly cheaper than the retail price here in the US (difference about $50). They had both the flats and the kitten heel version although the latter was more than retail here. I tried on the kitten heel version and it was comfy like flip-flops! As it was a big ticket item, I handed them back to the lovely sales assistant in Lane Crawford and went on my merry way. G was very sweet and offered to buy them as a gift knowing how badly I wanted them. I pondered on them for a few days before finally deciding to purchase them the day prior to us leaving. Alas, there was none in my size when I returned to the store to purchase what I wanted. πŸ™ My sis and G was kind enough to entertain me as we made a mad dash to Joyce and Valentino stores in hunt of the Noir Rockstuds. Nope, nothing to be found, they were all sold out. Only Lane Crawford had them but none in the size of what I wanted.

Well, as I’ve been obsessed with these shoes for a while (what an understatement!), I knew the few sites that still had what I want. Better yet, I was able to find a discount code which made the price difference slightly less then the retail price in HK! Woohoo! Thank you, G! πŸ˜€

On a recent trip to H&M to return a pair of printed pants (I’ve yet to find a pair that fits for a price I’m willing to pay), I found few more rings to add to my collection.

H&M gold rings ala Balenciaga Octopus ringH&M gold rings $5.95 and Octopus ring $3.95

The gold rings reminded me of the infamous Balenciaga rings that were featured on the S/S 2013 runway.

I had previously seen the ASOS version of these rings (silver here) and resisted to buy them but these H&M ones were hard to resist at their price point! As for the lil Octopus, it reminded me of the late Paul the Octopus. It was also budget-friendly for Miss Frugal here, so I bought it without further thought. πŸ˜‰

Can you guess which pair of Noir Rockstud I got? (I had previously posted about them here.) I’ll definitely be posting outfit pics featuring it in the near future! πŸ˜‰

Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Valentino Noir Rockstud Love

Valentino Noir Rockstud Flats and Slingbacks/Kitten Heels

Seen on fashion editors and bloggers alike, the Valentino Rockstud Noir was a capsule collection for Fall/Winter 2012. Always one to resist trends, I am mighty late to the scene in falling head over heels for these two pair of shoes. I think they’re the perfect epitome of rocker chic, classic yet edgy.

I absolutely love the matte leather versionΒ  (as seen on the flats) as I’m not a big fan of patent leather but it looks like the matte leather version is sold out in most places. πŸ™ Well, you snooze, you lose! (when will I ever learn?!) Then again, I’d have to sell an organ (or two) to afford both pairs. πŸ˜›Β  Ah, a girl can dream…
