Happy 4th to my fellow readers here in the US! In the spirit of American Independence Day, I decided to don red, white and blue for my outfit to run errands earlier this morning. I’ll also be wearing the same outfit this evening for a gathering at a friend’s place for some food and fireworks.
In one of my previous Wishing Wednesday post, I wrote about what I liked about the ZARA wrap mini skort that’s a popular item among bloggers. Yet, I expressed why it wasn’t for me as the length wasn’t work appropriate. Well, fast forward some weeks down the line, my lovely sister had one made for me by a tailor that she frequents when she’s in Hong Kong. Yes, made exactly color-blocked and at the length I preferred! Thank you, kajia! The finished product lacks pockets but I’ve received plenty of compliments on it each time I’ve worn it! 😀
I wore it this past weekend, keeping to a monochrome palette with a pop of color from my bag to hang out with a friend who also kindly took my outfit pics. Thanks, E!
I included this Celine python Blade in my birthday wishlist here a few weeks ago, and while I was in London, I was able to check out the version in regular leather in Selfridges. I definitely love the versatility of it, as the strap can be easily converted to carry the bag cross-body (although the strap isn’t shown in the pic above) and the size would allow me to tote around both my tablet and my camera with a little bit of room to spare. I think it’s a good mid-size bag – larger than my Chanel reissue flap and a little more compact than my Louis Vuitton Sofia Coppola PM – and fills my void of needing a black bag. I’ll say that I may or may not have one on its way to me as I was able to find it for a little less than the retail price of $4900 here in the US!
In an effort to wear layers and create a new outfit, I layered a sleeveless button down on top of my shirt dress which resulted in an outfit that Mademoiselle Chanel would approve of! I previously wore the same top to create another outfit channeling Coco Chanel here. I think a Chanel brooch adds a touch of class to just about any outfit. I also took Chanel’s advice – “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory,” as I had thought of wearing my long pearl necklace as a bracelet but decided otherwise. Looking back at this outfit though, perhaps I should have worn red shoes but I wanted to to keep the outfit as neutral as possible and let the bag be the pop of color. What do you think?
I have resisted from buying printed pants for the longest time. When I did warm up to the idea, I couldn’t find any that were within the price point I’d like to pay or those within my budget were ill-fitting. I first spotted these Banana Republic Hampton cropped pants a few months back and went to the store to try them without much expectations. To my surprise, they fit my straight/boyish figure pretty well and the material was thick and comfortable. Since I’m not one to purchase items at full price, I waited for it to go on sale while checking in on my size online every so often. Nope, no sale and my size has sold out. Since BR often has promotions, I decided to take the plunge and hunted down a pair in my size and had them put it on hold since I couldn’t get to the store till after work while I purchased a size bigger during the promotion at the store near work (it was 40% off for a power lunch sale that’s only 3 hours). And so I caved, and here are my first pair of printed pants (even if they were more than what I’d like to pay for but no matter since they fit well!) I do want to note that not all Hampton cropped pants fit the same since I tried on a few different prints and none of them actually fit as well as the ones I bought, i.e. looser fit.
Will these be my last pair of printed pants? Nope. I did purchase another pair from The Limited but I’m still on the fence about it. Perhaps I’ll post a picture of it this weekend to get some opinions on the fit. How many pairs of printed pants do you have? 😉
