Back… with a wedding update!

*Dusts cobwebs*

Hello! I’m finally back from yet another blogging hiatus (yes, I know), one that’s far more extended than I intended it to be. Truth is, I got caught up with my wedding preparations and the little things that I had to get done prior to moving across the pond to join G. G and I had our wedding on a Sunday in DC and I moved to London shortly after on Wednesday to start a new chapter in our lives.  (Our wedding was back in early October.) Now that I’m settled in, it’s time to get back to blogging!

Since our wedding was part of the reason for my hiatus, I’ll be sharing some personal pics to (hopefully!) make up for it. 😉 Our wedding was held at a SGI Buddhist Center and it was a small, intimate ceremony on a beautiful Fall day (with Summer weather!). It was followed by a buffet reception of light refreshments shortly after the ceremony at the same venue.

As I’m not a big fan of fresh flowers, I wanted something different as my bouquet for the wedding. I lucked out when work had pinwheels to giveaway in an effort to support the cause for awareness in prevention of child abuse. Let’s just say I may have taken more than one on my way out each day. A dear friend who’s a costume designer kindly helped to put my pinwheels together into a bouquet. (Thanks, M!) I did however, purchase a bouquet of flowers from Trader Joe’s on the day of, for the bouquet toss. (I trimmed and tied a ribbon on the bouquet.)

With our love for travel, it was only apt that our wedding was travel-themed. That aside, we were also in a long distance relationship which required both of us to travel to meet periodically. With that, I had origami boats, paper planes, and hot air balloons made out of maps to be tied in to the theme. (I had an origami party with a few friends to accomplish that!) We also bought two vintage suitcases from eBay as props/decor for the wedding. Also, in lieu of a guestbook, we had Anniversary Mail postcards made instead. Our guests gave us advice (for the bride and groom), of which we will read on our wedding anniversaries. For favors, we had little suitcases filled with some Ferraro Rocher chocolates for our guests to take home at the baggage claim area.

Without further ado, here are the pics and some rare shots of me showing my face with G! (In case you were wondering, G = Geek, so that should answer any questions you may have on any Iron Man insignia on him)

Summer Weekends

Summer is quickly drawing to an end and seeing kids getting on a school bus while on my way to work reminded me that Fall is almost upon us.  (Yes, I know some bloggers have been avidly posting Fall outfits although it befuddles me since it’s still nice and warm out there!) It’s been a busy Summer and here are some snapshots on what I’ve been up to by far this Summer.

2013 is perhaps the year of weddings as I attended two weddings over Summer and I’ll be attending another, the weekend after Labor Day. And then of course, there’s my own wedding. No, I’m still not quite done with wedding planning although most things have been squared away. In any case, with Summer winding down, I’m still hoping to be able to make a trip out to Shenandoah for a final hiking trip for one of these Summer weekends!

How have you been spending your Summer? 🙂

Wishing Wednesday… Something Blue!

Dean Harris Lapis Lentil EarringsDean Harris Lapis Lentil Earrings $950

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue! Yes, I’m still in wedding planning mode and although I already have my ‘something blue,’ these Dean Harris earrings would be fabulous to add to my outfit for my wedding attire! Now, who would like to buy these and be so kind to lend them to me as my ‘something borrowed’? 😀 Anyone..?

I will say that I did try looking for blue earrings and nothing within the price range I’m wiling to pay for (not more than $50) were remotely enticing or what I am looking for. I somehow stumbled across these and of course, it totally lives up to my champagne taste on a beer budget tagline! 😉

Feature Friday: Viktor and Rolf Bridal Collection

As a bride-to-be, I was curious to check out Viktor and Rolf’s Bridal Collection when I saw the headlines while catching up on fashion news. I first discovered the brand from one of H&M’s many collaborations back in 2006. Marriage, the name of this six-piece collection is part of the Resort 2014 collection. I love the Dutch designers’ avant-garde take on bridal wear. While I’ve already bought my dress, I can totally see myself wearing the first three pieces out of the collection. I would wear the first dress for wedding and perhaps the jumpsuit or shorter dress for civil ceremony. I think the jumpsuit would also be a great alternative for lesbian couples. Also, how cute are those bow sandals to match the jumpsuit?! That aside, while I like the idea of a shirt dress, I’m not a fan of hi-low hems. If it wasn’t, I’d wear that too! 😉Viktor and Rolf Bridal Collection Marriage

Fauxionable Outfit – Summer Wedding Guest Outfit

I attended a friend’s wedding this past weekend and it was a simple yet beautiful wedding. I was busy  taking mental notes as my wedding will be at the same venue! The bride and groom offered to save their decor for me (sweet!) and a friend who helped out at the wedding kindly forwarded me the agenda/plan. Upon seeing all the details, I had a mini panic attack realizing that I have yet to decide on many of the things on the agenda! That my fellow readers, explains my absence as I’m currently working on finding a caterer along with deciding on the other food-related details.

In any case, here’s what I wore to the wedding. I decided to keep accessories to a minimum as the maxi dress had a beautiful print and beading around the neckline.
