For over two months, G was commuting on a weekly basis to Netherlands for work that we would only see each other on the weekends. While I tend to throw a pair of pants and a top when we go out during the weekends, I decided to dress up a bit for one of our weekend lunch dates at that time.
I have had this top since forever (14 years?) that I can’t seem to part with. (What’s not to love about Peter Pan collars?!) I’m also glad that I decided to alter the original cocktail dress into this skirt since I have been able to wear it more often than I ever wore the dress (see here).
Happy 4th to my fellow readers here in the US! In the spirit of American Independence Day, I decided to don red, white and blue for my outfit to run errands earlier this morning. I’ll also be wearing the same outfit this evening for a gathering at a friend’s place for some food and fireworks.
In one of my previous Wishing Wednesday post, I wrote about what I liked about the ZARA wrap mini skort that’s a popular item among bloggers. Yet, I expressed why it wasn’t for me as the length wasn’t work appropriate. Well, fast forward some weeks down the line, my lovely sister had one made for me by a tailor that she frequents when she’s in Hong Kong. Yes, made exactly color-blocked and at the length I preferred! Thank you, kajia! The finished product lacks pockets but I’ve received plenty of compliments on it each time I’ve worn it! 😀
I wore it this past weekend, keeping to a monochrome palette with a pop of color from my bag to hang out with a friend who also kindly took my outfit pics. Thanks, E!
In an effort to wear layers and create a new outfit, I layered a sleeveless button down on top of my shirt dress which resulted in an outfit that Mademoiselle Chanel would approve of! I previously wore the same top to create another outfit channeling Coco Chanel here. I think a Chanel brooch adds a touch of class to just about any outfit. I also took Chanel’s advice – “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory,” as I had thought of wearing my long pearl necklace as a bracelet but decided otherwise. Looking back at this outfit though, perhaps I should have worn red shoes but I wanted to to keep the outfit as neutral as possible and let the bag be the pop of color. What do you think?
I wore this outfit sometime back when it was not as cold (completely subjective!) and recently recycled this outfit with warmer wool tights. I tend to stick to dress pants for work during the colder temperatures, only wearing skirts and dresses for certain occasions, weather-permitting. I decided to give the midi skirt a try this winter in an effort to maximize my wardrobe and minimize cost per wear (although this pretty skirt was a gift).
Yes, it’s another blue & red combo outfit. I just tend to stick to the tried and true, and this includes color palettes. Having a blog is challenging me to be more creative in pairing different textures and prints, but I’m just not quite there yet, color palette-wise!
It has also been really windy here in DC and my animated gif is proof! 😉 The wind is supposedly going to make its presence felt throughout this week and it’s forecasted to snow (up to 5-6 inches) tomorrow. Yes, snow in March. Can you tell how excited I am? (if only!) Spring, please hurry up and be here already!
Are there color palettes that you tend to adhere to?
