Fauxionable Outfit – Ruffles & Khaki

It’s a Summer day in Fall, so I’m seizing the opportunity to wear my summer clothes sans layering!

Fauxionable Outfit – What to Wear Where: Fall Transition

With the cooler temperatures in the morning and evening, my Fall transition outfits consist of longer hemlines and wearing jackets or light coats. Here’s my Fall Transition outfit for this week’s What to Wear Where challenge hosted by Forever 29 and I Pick Pretty

What are your essentials for transitioning to Fall?

Manhattan for the Day

As mentioned in the previous post, we had plan on spending the day in New York city before catching our train back to DC today. We started the day with some delicious brunch at The French Coast on the Upper West Side.

Food was good but service was slow. Somehow people who arrived after us got their food before we did! Oh well… in any case, as I’m writing this post I realized that those were the only food pics that I took since we were walking around the whole day and just bought street food instead of eating at a proper restaurant. And walked we did.. as we covered 4 miles (~54 blocks) from the apartment of G’s relative all the way to Penn Station to catch our train back to DC.

Of course it goes without saying that we stopped by in stores along Fifth Avenue on our way to Penn Station.

We also stopped by at YSL, Chanel, and ZARA to window-shop. I tried on a ZARA tweed jacket which I tweeted earlier and it’s on the Fall shopping list along with a leather jacket!

I think the jacket would make a great Fall jacket, a modern version of the tweed jacket with a twist (in this case, zips) that can pass as a classic in time to come.

I also tried on the biker leather jacket in ZARA and they had the M in store which definitely fits better. (I had previously tried the S and it fits snugly but with a sweater or thicker top underneath, it would be too tight.)

I have always toyed with the idea of getting a leather jacket but never really followed through. Perhaps this Fall one will make its way to my wardrobe? Well, I guess time will tell!

In any case, I had a wonderful weekend in New York and I hope you had a good one, too!

Clam Bake/Surf & Turf

One of G’s uncles has an annual clam bake/surf and turf family event and I was invited to tag along this year. We took the Amtrak train up to New York early in the morning and arrived at his uncle’s place in the afternoon. Being the glutton that I am, I had a grand time stuffing myself with lots of seafood and it was nice to meet G’s relatives. Here’s some pics to share…

We were supposed to spend the night in a hotel nearby but there was a snafu with our reservation. The hotel was overbooked and there were no rooms left for our reservation. Luckily, G’s relative who offered us a ride to the hotel took us in for the night! It worked out well since she lives in the city and we had plan on going into the city the next morning to walk around. I’ll blog about that in a separate post!

Fauxionable Outfit – The Little White Dress

While most females consider a little black dress aka LBD to be a classic staple in their wardrobe, I consider the little white dress, LWD to be a classic instead. I have my reasons for it; since I am skinny, I shy away from wearing too much black for fear of vanishing into thin air! Thus, I prefer white for the most part and needless to say, I have quite a fair bit of white clothing.

Summer is quickly drawing to an end and here I am trying to maximize my LWD wear by accessorizing it with two different sashes…
